Bouwlampen keuzehulp - LED.nl

LED construction lights are rapidly conquering the construction world. In our country, many thousands of users have already switched from halogen to a more energy-efficient and environmentally friendly alternative: LED. In our latest blog, you will learn what advantages LED construction lights have compared to their halogen predecessors and we will explain what you should pay attention to when buying an LED construction light.

Why choose LED? The benefits

Choosing an LED construction lamp instead of an outdated halogen or HQI construction lamp brings a large number of advantages. We list them for you:

  • Gigantic long lifespan: LED construction lights often last up to 50,000 burning hours (which equates to decades of use). No hassle with replacing lamps.
  • No start-up time; immediately on at full brightness.
  • Very economical with energy; save up to 75% on electricity costs and also relieve the burden on the environment.
  • Does not get hot; the energy used is converted entirely into light instead of heat. The fixture does not get hot either.

Taking all these factors into consideration, the choice for an LED construction lamp is quickly made. But which LED construction lamp should it be?

Where are you going to use the construction lamp?

Which type of construction lamp is most suitable for you depends mainly on the place where you will use it. Will it have a permanent place in your workshop? Then a construction lamp on mains power is the best choice. Are you planning to take the work lamp with you from job to job? Then a portable construction lamp on battery is a better alternative. At LED.nl we even have hybrid construction lamps ; these can be used on both electricity and battery.

The light output

The light output of lamps is usually indicated with the term 'lumen'. The more lumens the lamp has, the more light it gives. If you are looking for a very bright construction lamp, then you buy one with a lot of lumens. For jobs indoors, 1500 lumens is usually enough. If you are going to work on construction sites or in other large spaces, then you are better off choosing a few more lumens.

Color temperature

In addition to the light intensity, the color of the light is of course also important. The light color is indicated in the lighting world in Kelvin (K). The higher the amount of Kelvin, the cooler the light. Construction lights generally have a high K-value and give cold white light. This makes your work more visible at a detailed level.

Water resistance

Are you going to use the construction lamp outside? Then take a good look at the IP classification. The IP classification indicates the degree of water and dust tightness. As a rule, LED construction lamps have at least an IP44 classification, which means that they can withstand splash water and rainwater. If the construction lamp is IP65, the housing is even resistant to spray water.
